Customizable flash pop-up advertising

admin - October 25th, 2009 - 01:34

What is pop-up advertising?

Pop-up ads are one of the many forms of online advertising that are used on the internet to attract people to a website. Pop-up ads in combination with other advertising methods can help capture as much traffic as possible. Pop-up advertising is usually located on some website and opens up, when the website is loaded or some period of time after it is loaded. Pop-up advertising mostly uses JavaScript, but the technology also allowed flash pop-up advertising, which offers a lot more features and gives a number of advantages.

Pop-up ads usually open up on top of a website, which is already opened. But there is a variation of pop-up ads, called pop-under advertising. Such ads open in a different window of your browser underneath the active window, so you might not notice them right away when they open up, but you will see them some time after. Pop-under ads are not interrupting, but will be seen after the active window is closed.

Pop-up advertising can be used to display information, which might be interesting for the user, without disrupting the page, which he currently has open. You can use such helpful pop-ups for software download functions on your website or in the form section of your website, for example, when help is necessary (then the help window can open in a pop-up window, without losing the information already entered in the form).

Pop-up blocking.

The major disadvantage of pop-up ads, which are generated with JavaScript, is pop-up blocking. Opera was the first big browser, which offered pop-up blocking tools, and by 2002 all major browsers, except for IE, had integrated some kind of pop-up blocking software. However, the modern pop-up advertising software allows skipping pop-up blocks. The advantage of flash pop-up ads is that it bypasses blockers of pop-up advertising.

ColdFusion Hosting by ColdFusion Development Firms

admin - June 5th, 2009 - 14:36

Advantages of hosting your ColdFusion Website or Application with a ColdFusion Developer

So you have a ColdFusion Website or a ColdFusion Application and you are looking for hosting. The question here is should you host with any provider, or look out for those hosting Providers that have ColdFusion specialists on hand? Some businesses look at, and prefer hosting with ColdFusion Developers that actually offer CF Hosting as an additional Service.

There are several advantages to hosting your ColdFusion systems with a ColdFusion Hosting Provider that also has ColdFusion programmers or resources on hand:

  1. You can rely on a competent CF Network Architecture, proper and dedicated ColdFusion Environment, updates / patching done without trial and error episodes, and advanced CF knowledge

  2. ColdFusion Development Firms that offer hosting as a service typically know what resides on their coldfusion hosting servers even if they didnt develop the ColdFusion Website or ColdFusion Application.

  3. If there is a problem with ColdFusion hosting, an intervention will be more competent (remember, ColdFusion Development Firms often work on live servers, unless they have set up a mirror ColdFusion development environment).

  4. Major advantage – If you need any changes to the ColdFusion Website, a ColdFusion specialist is available right away, or much faster than a remote ColdFusion developer.

  5. The ColdFusion Development Firm specializes in ColdFusion and doesn’t need to babysit other unrelated Websites or Applications

  6. A ColdFusion Developer that offers ColdFusion hosting as a service typically has a dedicated ColdFusion Department within their Firm, complete with ColdFusion Programmers, ColdFusion Analysts, and project managers that can be at your service

  7. Major advantage – ColdFusion Developers may offer discount rates for ColdFusion Development if you decide to also host with them, rather than just use them for ColdFusion development. The discount of sometimes even $5-$10 per hour off of the normal ColdFusion development rate can be often significant over a savings of only a few dollars in a a year of Hosting with a regular Hosting Provider

  8. Requested changes, maintenance, components, functionality features, media or content updates, will be completed faster during regular hours, as well as in case of short notice / emergencies

Disadvantages of Hosting your ColdFusion Application with a ColdFusion developer:

  • Hosting on a different continent, or a different country / time zone (Eg. India, Pakistan, South Asia, etc.) Those deals might seem cheap, but trust me … you will pay the price later

Adobe Flex Examples

Adobe Flex Development and Examples
Want to give your visitors, clients and customers a killer experience on your website by providing them with a cutting-edge interface?  With integrated Flex Development your online Applications can work as fast as Desktop Applications.  Take a look at our Adobe Flex Examples. The speed of Adobe Flex, coupled with exceptional design, security, and usability is the main reason why more and more businesses and organizations are partnering with Flex Development Teams that can create extremely fast Online Applications leveraging the Rich Internet Application (RIA) technology provided by Adobe’s Flex

How does Flex Development revolutionize the way your clients do business with you?
It’s all about speed these days. Just follow the link at the bottom and take a look at some Adobe Flex Examples. Long gone is the time when to update even a tiny bit of information on a webpage the user either needed to be directed to another page or needed to refresh the current page.  With Flex Development the current page behaves like a Desktop Application – only the information that needs to change will change, while everything else remains static on the Webpage; no need to load another page or reload the existing page.

Whenever you go to another page or reload the existing page everything on that page is reloaded.  This may include images, shopping cart items and the various scripts you may be using.  This not only means excessive use of your bandwidth it also means your Website technology seems archaic and slow to your clients. The entire thing especially becomes cumbersome if you are using online word processor or software that requires lots of updates with great speed. Websites and Online Applications developed using Adobe Flex allow the users to keep working while the data is being updated on the page, that is, they don’t have to wait while the page is being reloaded or refreshed.

Another example would be showing results from a database or sorting various columns alphabetically – or according to a certain value.  If such an application is developed in Flex the user can simply click the appropriate link and the column gets sorted immediately on the same page – without having to refresh the page.

What exactly is Flex Development?
Flex is a collection of technologies developed and marketed by Adobe and it is primarily used for developing and deploying cross-platform Rich Internet Applications (RIA) with great speed and efficiency. Flex takes the abilities of Flash development to the next level.  Flash is all about animating various webpage objects based on a timeline.  An interactive Application developed with Flex on the other hand does not function based on a timeline, and lots of interaction takes place according to user response. This is achieved by saving the necessary logic and data on the client side instead of fetching them from the server again and again; this improves speed and efficiency tremendously. Flex development combines interactivity, usability, compatibility, adaptability and desktop-like richness to bring you an unmatched user experience. Our Adobe Flex examples are here to support the statement.

Since Applications and Website components developed with Adobe Flex can be easily embedded into existing pages, they can be used with almost every programming language and platform.  This means whether you have a Website developed in ColdFusion, ASP.NET, JAVA, or PHP you can easily incorporate and seamlessly integrate Flex Development. Adobe Flex can be customized to fit any industry and concepts.

So, to unleash the power of contemporary Web Development technologies think about using Flex Development for your next project or even your ongoing project, in order to redefine the way people use your Online Applications and browse your Website.

A Flex Shopping Cart provides the following unique features:

1.  Pageless navigation: that means your customers don’t have to hop from page to page in order to complete the transaction while using the Flex Shopping Cart; everything happens on a single page like a desktop application.

2.  The changes are reflected immediately: as your customers quickly add new items and change the quantities of existing items the changes are immediately reflected without having the pages to be reloaded.  This significantly increases the speed and interactivity.

3.  Secure, single-screen checkout: a single screen checkout reduces the chances of abandonment and distraction.  The entire transaction takes place extremely fast and your customers don’t lose track of what they are doing due to countless distractions existing on the Internet.  Our Flex Shopping Cart is completely secure.

4.  Comprehensive administrative area: you can control all the aspects of our Flex Shopping Cart using a highly intuitive administrative area that can be accessed using login ID and password.  You can assign various accessibility levels for your employees.  You can maintain your entire stock, reporting formats and calculation algorithms using the administrative area of the Ecomsolutions.net Flex shopping cart.

5.  Native support for rich media: who says that a shopping cart only means drab numbers and inactive purchasing functions?  Make your shopping cart highly interactive by embedding audio, video and even Flash animations using the native support for rich media in our Flex Shopping Cart.

6.  Countless design styles and skins: brand the Flex Shopping Cart according to the layout of your own Website; your customers don’t have to know that you are using an external Application to handle business transactions.  Through various designs and skins you can totally customize the look and feel of our Flex Shopping Cart.

7.   Multiple international currencies and automatic exchange rates: once you start selling on the Internet people buy from you from all over the world and you cannot simply offer them a single currency.  Our Flex Shopping Cart gives you the ability to let your customers pay in their own currencies.  This way they feel totally at ease while shopping on your Website and they don’t have to use external help to figure out how much they need to pay you in case they pay using their own currency.

8.  Filtered navigation and sorting: give complete control of how the data is displayed on your shopping cart to your customers so that they completely feel at home while shopping at your website.  Our Flex Shopping Cart lets them customize the navigation and sort the displayed items according to names, values, and even their colors.

9.  Custom product display and layout: as explained above, the sky is the limit when it comes to customizing the display of your products and prices using our Flex shopping cart. Display your products in whichever way you want to so that practically no distractions and confusions occur when people are buying from you; this ensures seamless transactions without the chances of your customers leaving the transaction midway.

10. Automated shipping and tax calculations: once these calculations have been defined using the administrative area they are calculated automatically while your customer is adding items to the shopping cart.  Every calculation happens in real-time and immediately on the same screen so that your customers don’t lose track of what they are doing.  They don’t have to carry out even a single calculation.  It’s as simple as clicking on individual items in order to add them to the shopping cart and then clicking the checkout link in order to pay on the same screen.

So what’s the big deal?  Doesn’t every shopping cart provide these features?
Sure, many shopping carts do provide these features but the startling difference with a Flex Shopping Cart is that everything happens on the same screen — it seems like using a desktop application.  This significantly improves the quality of experience that your customers have while shopping on your Website.  You can animate the processes, you can create highly customized and interactive inventory lists that can be scrolled up and down keeping other components of your current webpage static, and every action, every calculation happens in real time, on a single page.  It totally redefines the way people use and interact with your shopping cart interface.  Your customers will get addicted to it.

ColdFusion Frameworks

Working With ColdFusion Frameworks

Frameworks can drastically reduce the time frame of your Development Cycles by letting you focus on the fundamental business solutions rather than getting trapped in the nitty-gritty of developing repetitive code. For instance let’s say you are working on an enterprise level online accounting system coded in ColdFusion. Instead of writing tons of code on how to handle transactions with the database and user verifications, you can work on the actual logic of the accounting system because the framework you are working with provides you with all the necessary routines to take care of repetitive but essential tasks.

So basically a framework is like a library of different code routines that you can use as and when you need them, but the big difference is that once you start working under a framework, it basically controls your work flow, and this is not in a bad way. A framework helps you streamline your development process and maintain code so that it can be easily used and customized. Read the rest of this entry »
